What Sets Us Apart
Meet Dr. Hammes
Tod Hammes is a caring, skilled, and gentle dentist. From years of practice, thousands of hours of continuing education, and years of teaching, he has a keen understanding of smiles, bite alignments, and the health of the gums and soft tissues. He has worked hard to surround himself with a talented and caring staff. His team shares a friendly and professional attitude, while serving clients’ needs and desires, in a fun and humorous environment.
Dr. Hammes graduated in the top 10% of his class from Marquette University School of Dentistry and was honored by election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He chose an additional 12-month advanced educational general dentistry residency to broaden his experience of dental and surgical subspecialties. He was honored in 1987 as a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and in 1988 was published in the Journal of the Wisconsin Dental Association. He is a member of the ADA, Wisconsin Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He continues to attend educational meetings, courses, and symposia.
Promoted to Associate Adjunct Professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry in 2004, he has taught since 1995. In addition to his part time clinical teaching of dental students, he has taught continuing education to other dentists through Marquette. He and two of his colleagues teach the entire junior class for three full days, doing lecture and hands-on courses for posterior bonded restorations, anterior bonding, and digital dental photography. His responsibilities have included instruction of examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and the clinical delivery of services relating to restorative dentistry, periodontal health, pain relief, and prosthetic replacement with dentures, implants, and bridges.
A Burlington High School graduate, Tod Hammes continues to enjoy living in the same neighborhood in the town of Burlington with his wife, Marilyn, and two cats. He enjoys spending time with friends and family as well as sailing, backpacking, reading, working out, paddling, fishing, travel, and caring for their home and yard. He is active with the Racine Dragonboat Club and Browns’ Lake Yacht Club.
Tod Hammes is involved in several activities to make our part of the world a little better. In addition to the time he spends teaching, he is involved in donated services through Healthcare Network and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He participates in the Give Back A Smile Program, that has a component for children through the ADA. Another service that he provides is through the AACD that helps victims of domestic abuse get their lives back on track. A strong history with the Boys Scouts of America and the Racine United Way Beacon Circle, and limited commitments to other charitable organizations, has provided opportunities for Tod and Marilyn to fulfill their desire to give.
