Veneers are tooth-colored dental restorations used for several oral cosmetic purposes. They are wafer-thin pieces of
porcelain mostly used to treat teeth that are chipped, broken, worn out, discolored and spaced too far apart from each other. They can be bonded to the teeth using dental adhesives.
Veneers can be used to treat the following types of teeth:
The procedure for getting a veneer would require two visits to our dental practice. During the first visit, we would
screen your teeth for cavities, tooth damage, gum diseases, discoloration, receding of gums, etc. A mold of the teeth
will be taken to determine the shape, contour, and measurements of the veneer. It will be sent to a laboratory where
the veneer will be fabricated from tooth-colored ceramic material. A temporary veneer may be used in its place until it
is available.
During the next visit, we will remove the temporary restoration and thoroughly clean the tooth. Etching solution will be
applied on the tooth to roughen it. The veneer will be placed on the tooth and checked for fit and comfort before it is
bonded using dental adhesives. A curing light will be used to harden it, after which it will be polished to improve the
aesthetics.
